Job Opportunity: Cardiac Scrub Tech

Location: Beachwood, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Job Summary

Seeking a Certified Surgical Technician specializing in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) procedures. This is an extension assignment for a cardiac surgical tech traveler.

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Health and Safety Requirements

• Immunizations and Health Screenings:

  • MMR: Positive titers within last 15 years or appropriate booster protocol
  • Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years or appropriate booster protocol
  • Tdap: Vaccination within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series, or signed declination form (agency form accepted)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Preferred but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted
  • Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, masking and specific forms required
  • Tuberculosis Testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA within last 6 months; if positive, clear chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required
  • Fit Test: Completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually (specific respirator models required)
  • Physical Exam: Pre-employment physical within 1 year confirming ability to work without restrictions

Background and Compliance

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 6 months including Social Security trace, county searches (7 years), national sex offender registry
  • Ohio fingerprinting requirements based on residency duration (BCI&I and FBI checks)
  • OIG Exclusion List check within 6 months prior to start
  • SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC screening within 6 months prior to start

• Employment and Education Verification:

  • Highest level of education verified through third party (international equivalency required if applicable)
  • Employment verification for last 5 years through third party (excluding agency employment)

• Drug Screening:

  • 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • New drug screen required if break in assignment exceeds 60 days

• Identification:

  • Non-expired photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required

Skills and Competency

• Completion of a skills checklist specific to clinical role within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)
• Competency exam with minimum 80% score within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)
• Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, OSHA topics completed within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)
• Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; annual renewal required
