Registered Nurse – Post Partum/OB/Labor & Delivery

Location: Charlevoix, Michigan
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (flexible)
Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts every two-week period (Saturday or Sunday)
Holidays: No holiday shifts required
On-Call: 1–2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care for low-risk pregnant patients and stabilize preterm and high-risk patients for transfer.
• Manage labor and delivery, triage, and emergent cesarean sections.
• Independently care for well-born neonates 35 weeks gestation and older in a Level 1 nursery.
• Quickly stabilize sick newborns with interdisciplinary team support and prepare for transfer to higher-level care.

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Valid RN license in Michigan (must be current and unencumbered).
• Valid Driver's License.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications (must be active at start date)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• STABLE certification.
• One of the following fetal monitoring certifications:

  • AWHONN Intermediate
  • NCC C-EFM
  • Inteleos C-FMCS

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year.
• Nursery experience caring for neonates.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Proof of MMR vaccination or positive titer.
• Proof of Varicella vaccination or positive titer (history not accepted).
• Negative TB test within last 6 months (T-spot, QuantiFERON, or 2-step skin test) or appropriate follow-up if positive.
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30), no declinations accepted except approved medical/religious exemptions.
• Fit for duty health statement completed within 1 year of start date.
• Drug screen results within 90 days prior to start.
• Ishihara compliant color vision exam.

Onboarding and Documentation

• Professional references: Minimum of 2 from managers, supervisors, or charge nurses (attestations not accepted).
• Core competency exams including OSHA and Joint Commission compliance.
• Skills checklists and self-assessments.
• Criminal background check (7-year national, including sex offender and FACIS Level 3) within 90 days.
• Employment and education verifications (third-party or documented proof).
• Social Security card and state-issued ID/driver’s license.
• Fingerprinting required.
• Emergency contact form completion.
• Completed I-9 attestation.
• Signed healthcare system agreement to initiate system access.
• Badge photo with plain background.

Uniform

• OR scrubs provided and laundered.
