Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical

Location: Evansville, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Unit: Ortho / Neuro, 16 beds
Patient Ratio: 1:6-8


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on a combined Orthopedics and Neuroscience unit.
  • Manage a patient load of 6 to 8 patients per nurse.
  • Work day shift on a medical/surgical unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Successful completion of Ascension Pharmacology Exam
  • Successful completion of Ascension Medical Surgical Exam
  • Successful completion of Ascension EKG Exam
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Completion of unit-specific orientation and core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Health and immunization requirements including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted).
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
    • Tuberculosis screening with 2-step PPD or IGRA testing and chest X-ray if positive.
    • Fit testing for respiratory protection (annual requirement).
    • Annual health statement or physical exam.
  • Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Background checks including criminal history, employment verification, and professional references.
  • Submission of a valid driver's license or state ID matching address requirements.
  • Completion of onboarding education attestations and contract worker onboarding processes.
  • Submission of a professional resume/profile and at least two professional references.

Additional Notes

  • Photo ID badge with a clear, unaltered headshot required.
  • All competency exams and health requirements must be updated every 3 years or annually as specified.
  • Some optional checklists and evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for onboarding.
