Job Details
Shift: Days, 36 hours per week, every other weekend (EOW) required
Experience: Minimum 2 years required; first-time travelers accepted
Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
Common Diagnoses:
- General medical surgical population
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Chest Pain (CP)
- Cellulitis
- Osteomyelitis
- Pancreatitis
- Post-amputation care
- Small bowel obstruction
- Atrial fibrillation/dysrhythmias
- Cancer
- Palliative care
Special Procedures/Unit Details:
- EKG monitoring
- Drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, Lasix (non-titratable within parameters)
- Telemetry monitoring with support from Monitor Techs
Equipment Used:
- IV pumps
- Oxygen delivery systems
- Telemetry monitors
- Pulse oximeters
- Vital signs machines
- Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
- Bed/chair alarms
- Chest tubes
- Foley catheters
Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
On-Call: Not required
Holidays: Required as scheduled
Licensure & Certifications Required
- Maryland RN License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., CHEMO, TNCC, PALS, NRP, EFM)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or Attestation
- Government Issued Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Background Checks including:
- 7-year criminal history (updated within 30 days of start)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check
- HHS/OIG check
- Education verification
- Maryland State Exclusions List check (Medicaid Sanctioned Providers List)
- Employment verification for 5-7 years
- Two supervisory references within 1 year (one must be a supervisor/manager)
- Agency application/resume completed within 30 days of start
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
- Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children/newborns)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel plus Fentanyl) within 30 days of start
- COVID-19 vaccination not required for this facility but may be required elsewhere
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Facility-specific confidentiality agreement and IT confidentiality agreement must be signed prior to start
- Passport-style photo for badge
- Respiratory Protection Questionnaire signed by a medical professional
- Security ID application completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Job description acknowledgment signed prior to start
- Portfolio Epic Training Test Out Form (time sensitive) for Epic users
- Medical flu declination form if applicable (must be signed by physician)
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire completed by all candidates
Additional Notes
- Weekend and holiday shifts are required as scheduled
- Floating within specialty and to lower acuity units is expected
- On-call shifts are not required for this position
