- Patient population: Adults and geriatrics
Unit Overview
- Oncology medical-surgical unit
- Floating is required to other MedSurg Oncology units
- Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, with assignments up to 1:5
- Weekends are variable based on unit needs
- No set or blocked scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Oncology experience
Preferred Qualifications
- ONS Chemo preferred
- Prior travel experience preferred
Clinical Focus
- Cares for solid tumor oncology patients across the cancer journey, including new diagnosis, treatment, and end-of-life care
- Common diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer, plus antineoplastic chemotherapy encounters
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention and fall prevention
- Patients may have med-surg needs
Additional Notes
- EPIC charting
- EKG competency exam is required for all RNs within 1 year of start and annually, unless exempt by unit-specific rules
- Unit-specific competency exam required

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
