Registered Nurse – Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology

Location: Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work in a fast-paced Medical Hematology/Oncology outpatient clinic.
• Responsibilities include triaging patient phone calls, responding to patient portal messages, entering physician orders (labs, diagnostics), following up on treatment plans and genetic testing.
• Coordinate diagnostics and patient care closely with Infusion and Radiation teams and physicians.
• Provide patient education, including chemotherapy discussions.
• Track INR patients and follow iron infusion patients.
• Support Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

Schedule

• Day shift, Monday through Friday
• 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 3 years of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; updated annually.
• State-specific caregiver screening for Wisconsin.
• Professional references: 2 verified within 2 years of start.

Certifications and Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended but not mandatory for this role.
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) as applicable but not specifically required for this outpatient oncology role.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative QGold TB test within 1 year (TSpot/PPD not accepted).
• Immunization or positive titer proof for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen with expanded opiates within 14 days before start (marijuana positive not disqualifying).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (October to March).

Additional Facility Requirements

• Photo for badge (passport-style, shoulders up, no filters).
• Completion of confidentiality statement prior to start.
• Compliance checklist to be completed by agency representative.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• Flu vaccine exemption forms if applicable.

• Locals accepted but at a lower rate (pay details not included).
• This position does not accept first-time travel nurses.
