Registered Nurse - PCU (Georgia, Cartersville)

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Unit & Schedule Details

• Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
• Schedule: Must be flexible; no schedule requests can be approved or accommodated
• Call: None
• Floating: Within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Holidays: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2, expected to work both; if 3, expected to work 2 of them
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year nursing experience
• First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:

  • National and county criminal searches
  • Sex offender registry check
  • Education verification of related degree (can be pending with proof of processing)
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (not required by client but by agency)
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest X-ray if previously positive
• TB questionnaire updated annually, required regardless of TB status
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended (not required)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (instant drug screen acceptable)

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Verification of most recent work history (can be pending with proof of processing)
• Two clinical references required by agency
• Must review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
• Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks due to orientation scheduling
• Orientation hours are non-billable and vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

• Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Manager reviews candidate profile within 48 hours of confirmation to determine fit
• No clinical remediation allowed for competency exams, but agency remediation permitted before final attempt
• Floating assignments limited to facility and scope of practice

This position offers a night shift travel nursing opportunity in a Progressive Care Unit with a flexible schedule and requires a minimum of one year of nursing experience. All required certifications, immunizations, and compliance documents must be current and verified prior to start.
