Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: General Medical-Surgical, COVID, TB, and all negative pressure rooms
• Shift: Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Schedule Options:

  • Alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts every other week, or
  • Straight 4x12 shifts every week
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• Holiday Requirement: At least 2 out of 3 holidays
• On-Call: No
• Float Requirement: Yes

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year
• Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Competencies & Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, and III, updated annually)

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
• Immunizations and testing:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (two-step skin test or equivalent)
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, and rubella (boosters required if titers low)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination within 12 months of start
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters required if titer low)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted
• Employee appearance policy and flu declination forms must be acknowledged

Additional Information

• Return to Office (RTO) within 5 days or additional time added to end of contract
• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
• Must complete all required documentation and verifications within specified timeframes

This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts, telemetry monitoring, and working in a dynamic hospital environment with infectious disease precautions.
