Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Milford, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: 32 hours per week

  • Two 18:45 - 07:15 shifts
  • One 22:45 - 07:15 shift
• License Required: Massachusetts RN license
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years telemetry experience
  • Previous PCU experience preferred
• Charting System: Meditech Expanse highly preferred but not mandatory
• Schedule Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday coverage
• Position Type: True float position

  • Floating to various units each shift except ICU
  • Possible float to Endocrinology for basic patient care
• Units Covered:

  • ED holds
  • Med Surg/Telemetry
  • Medical Oncology
  • Surgical
  • Cardiac
  • PCU

Required Certifications & Competencies

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only (required for ER)
• Pass/Fail Testing:

  • Medication Exam required for all RNs
  • Telemetry Exam required for RNs working in telemetry units (including L&D)
  • Must pass with minimum 80% on first day of orientation
• Other Certifications (as applicable):

  • Chemotherapy (preferred for Oncology)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred for ER
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for ER, NICU, PICU, OR, PACU, Pediatrics
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for L&D, NICU, Nursery, Mother/Baby
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) for L&D (AWHONN Intermediate may be required)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) may be required or completed onsite
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
• State License Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start
• NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days prior to start

Required Background & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Massachusetts Statewide (iCORI) Release (updated annually)
• 7-year Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start (annual update required)
• Education Verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
• Sex Offender Search (for subcontractors if separate from BGC)
• Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (required for all candidates in MA)
• Background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG if run separately
• Compliance Attestation required for any background hits

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical Exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray with required follow-up if positive
• TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
• Immunizations or valid declinations (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU):

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination with documentation)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, history of chickenpox, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Influenza seasonal vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccination (most recent) or declination
• Drug Testing within 30 days of start (urine panel including multiple substances)

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references within three years of start
• Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually as applicable
• Medication and Telemetry competency exams required for all RNs

Notes

• This is a travel/contract position with floating responsibilities across multiple units (excluding ICU).
• Candidates must be flexible and able to adapt to different clinical environments.
• Compliance with all background, health, and certification requirements is mandatory prior to start.
