Job Summary: Therapy/Rehabilitation Travel Contract in New Jersey (New Brunswick)

Position Details

  • Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Pediatric Physical Therapy - Outpatient)
  • Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 22 weeks (interpreted from 22)
  • Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
    • Requires 2 evenings per week until 6:30 or 7:00 PM (flexible scheduling)
    • No weekend shifts
    • No floating required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of pediatric physical therapy outpatient experience required
  • Prior travel experience: Not required (1st time travelers accepted)

Patient Population & Workload

  • Patient age range: Birth to mostly elementary age
  • Common diagnoses: Autism, developmental delays, torticollis, etc.
  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • Appointment length: 45 minutes with 15 minutes between appointments for documentation and setup

Documentation & Systems

  • Charting system: Web PT

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Required for pediatric settings
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Check if required for specific units
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required for NICU and related units (if applicable)
  • State professional license (hard copy required)
  • IV Certification (if previously worked in New Jersey hospitals)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the last 7 years, including aliases and jurisdictions
  • SAM, OIG, EPLS/GSA searches within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam or fit-to-work statement from a physician (no annual update required)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel within one year of start; on-site drug screen at assignment start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap vaccine
    • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or Tspot within 3 months)
    • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis C (negative or non-reactive titer)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (deadline applies)

Orientation & Training

  • Mandatory hospital orientation required
  • Completion of assigned online modules (~8 hours) prior to start
  • Possible additional training during orientation (8-12 hours)
  • Medication and competency exams required for internal compliance (pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, IV therapy as applicable)

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: Any color allowed
  • Patient care is 1:1 with structured appointment times
  • Flexible scheduling for evening shifts
  • No weekend or floating requirements
