Job Description

• Assignment in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5 or higher.
• Registered Nurse must have at least 1.5 years of experience in the specialty.
• First-time travelers are accepted.
• Every other week (EOW) and every other holiday required.
• Must be willing to float within skillset when not needed in home unit.
• No block scheduling.
• Local candidates are accepted.

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey.

Experience

• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry.

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for MS/Tele assignments; AHA required, RQI and instructor cards acceptable.
• NIH Stroke Certification – Required for MS/Tele and adult critical care units; must be updated annually.
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Required for all RNs; must be completed within 72 hours of signing.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Required for MS/Tele and adult critical care units; must be completed within 72 hours of signing.
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Pharmacology and Basic EKG exams required for MS/Tele; candidates have 3 attempts to pass.
• Color Blind Testing – Required within one year of start if job tasks require color discrimination.
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) – Required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (not specifically required for MS/Tele).
• Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, CHEMO, EFM may not be required for MS/Tele but are required for other specialties.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
• Physical exam within the last 12 months confirming clearance to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
• Drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Seasonal influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
• Respirator medical clearance and fit testing if job tasks require respirator use.
• Latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable.
• Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) prior to start.
• Annual education sign-off and compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal, MVR/DMV, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions.
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
• Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start (New Jersey state requirement).
• Two professional references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
