Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Description

  • Heart & Vascular Unit (7HVU), 49-bed specialty medical/surgical unit
  • Fast-paced environment focused on cardiovascular patient care
  • Care for specialty patients including stable heart and lung transplants, and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs)
  • Sister unit to the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit

Patient Ratios

  • Day shift: 1:5
  • Night shift: 1:6 (can occasionally be 1:7)

Schedule & Shifts

  • 36 or 48-hour shift options available
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
    • Days: Saturday and Sunday
    • Nights: Friday night and Saturday night
  • Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Floating Requirements

  • Travelers are first to float and must be prepared to float frequently
  • Floating may include multiple units and potentially to Bellevue campus
  • Units may include: 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a large, urban hospital (highest required years of experience)
  • First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Drip experience required on all floors
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIH Stroke Certification and CPI preferred

Licensure & Eligibility

  • Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking will be delayed by six weeks
  • Locals NOT accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)

Facility & Work Environment

  • 100% nicotine-free facility
  • Scrubs mandatory: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
  • Parking available with permit or daily rates

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including federal enhanced search
  • SAM and OIG checks required every 30 days
  • Education verification required
  • State-specific abuse/neglect registry checks required
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually
  • Physical exam and fit mask test required annually
  • Immunizations required: Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu (preferred but not mandatory), COVID (preferred, exemptions accepted)
  • Annual PPD or TB screening required
  • References: 2 work references from past 2 years required
  • Annual skills checklist required
