Job Opportunity: Pediatric CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • On-call requirement:
    • 1 weekend per month
    • 1-2 weeknights per week
    • Approximately 8-9 days per month total
  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), pediatric focus preferred but adult CVOR experience accepted
  • Manager prefers candidates with all CVOR skills listed as preferred
  • Candidates must have at least 2 years of CVOR experience (adult or pediatric)
  • Prior travel experience required: at least 1 completed travel assignment in CVOR

Required Qualifications

  • License: Current Ohio RN license or Compact RN license
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in CVOR (adult or pediatric)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract in CVOR

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked)
  • Government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing
  • Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract
  • Education verification (highest degree) required
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start
  • Various state-specific and federal background checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, Abuse Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry) required within 30 days of start
  • Required health documents:
    • Physical exam (within 1 year, must state free of communicable diseases)
    • TB testing (PPD or IGRA within last 12 months) and questionnaire
    • Immunizations: Tdap (within 10 years), Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31) or approved exemption
    • N95 fit testing within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology test as applicable
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
  • Two professional references required (charge RN acceptable for one)
  • Resume or employment application required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must comply with facility-specific policies including confidentiality, code of conduct, infection control, and fingerprint screening questions
  • Local Ohio addresses within 60 miles of the facility may be considered local and not eligible for travel assignment
  • All certifications and licenses must have the candidate’s legal name exactly as on official documents (no nicknames or misspellings)
  • Screenshots or photos of certifications and documents are not accepted for compliance

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with pediatric or adult experience who have completed at least one prior travel assignment and are comfortable with on-call responsibilities.
