Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Orange, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- 2 years combined Telemetry and Stepdown experience required
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Required skills: IV start, ventilators, telemetry, phlebotomy
- Patient population includes surgical, transplants, overflow medicine, neurology, oncology, trauma, cardiovascular, ENT, neurosurgical, hepatobiliary, GI surgery, vent-dependent patients
- RN may float to comparable units
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Return to Origin (RTO) must be on submittal and cannot be changed once sent for review
- No more than 7 days of RTO preferred during the 13-week contract
- No RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of assignment
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Med Surg and Telemetry nursing experience
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Proficient in IV start skills
- Skilled in ventilator management
- Phlebotomy skills
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of combined Telemetry and Stepdown nursing experience
- Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers accepted)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year, updated annually (no instant tests)
- Negative TB test (PPD, TSpot, or QGold) within 1 year; if positive, negative chest x-ray within 4 years and annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination required; titer not acceptable)
- Hepatitis C titer strongly preferred; declination accepted with reason
- Seasonal flu vaccination required by December 5 (declinations accepted with masking requirements)
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation for current season or facility-specific declination with masking requirements
- N95 mask fit testing within 1 year, renewed annually (PAPR documentation accepted if N95 fit test failed)
Documentation & Compliance
- 2 professional references within 1 year from leadership in current specialty
- Verification of employment for past 3 years required
- Signed HIPAA acknowledgment
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and competency modules onsite
- Signed acknowledgment of facility policies including:
- Epidural Pain Policy
- Standard of Care: Skin Care
- Workplace Violence Prevention
- Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy
- Badge and identification requirements including government-issued photo ID
- Background check within 1 year including criminal, statewide, nationwide, sex offender, social security trace, and federal searches
Additional Information
- Weekend shifts every other weekend
- Floating to comparable units may be required
- Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions apply during contract
- Orientation and training modules completed onsite
- Facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start
