Pediatric ER Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Pediatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse
- Facility Type: Level I Trauma, Teaching, Children’s Hospital, Short term acute care
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:4 (days, nights, weekends), may increase during busy periods
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Weekend Requirement: Travelers scheduled for weekends as needed (Saturday, Sunday days; Friday-Sunday nights)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May float within scope to Pediatric admission floors as needed
- Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
- Locals: No locals within 75 miles accepted
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Absences greater than 7 days require approval
Experience & Requirements
- Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years pediatric experience in a Pediatric ED or combined Adult/Pediatric ED
- First-time Travelers: Accepted with strong experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

- Triage
- Pediatric Dosage Calculations
- Phlebotomy
- Starting IVs
- Interpretation of 12 Lead EKG and cardiac dysrhythmias
- Trauma/Resuscitation experience preferred
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Required (religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption form)
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - must have prior to signing
- Additional Recommended/Optional Certifications:
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - RQI not acceptable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam: Required with passing score (80% overall, 100% lethal arrhythmia section)
Licensure & Documentation
- Valid New Mexico RN license required (original with 3D seal for radiology areas)
- Pending licenses accepted
- NURSYS verification required
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within one year of start
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless done within past 12 months)
- Education Verification: Diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable
- Social Security Card copy may be requested
- Driver’s License: Valid non-local driver’s license required (location not near public transportation)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Annual TB Questionnaire required
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer (history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer acceptable
- Drug Testing: Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Flu Vaccine: Required year-round with exemptions accepted via facility-specific form
- COVID-19 Vaccine: No longer required but reporting of vaccination status is mandatory
Additional Information
- No RQI certifications accepted for required certifications
- Must have pediatric experience in triage, dosage calculations, phlebotomy, IV starts, and EKG interpretation
- Admission holds may board in Pediatric ED during high census
- Facility uses Cerner for charting
- Parking: No fee

- OT applies after 48 hours on contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025
