Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Oakland, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with strong Labor & Delivery (L&D) skills to work in a high-risk OB/GYN setting. The nurse will manage multiple NST (Non-Stress Test) patients simultaneously and perform DVPs (Doppler Velocimetry Profiles) if able. The role involves OB intake/triage, pregnancy assessment clinics, patient calls, and procedure clinics with moderate sedation.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty.
- Must be strong in Labor & Delivery (L&D).
Certifications
- California RN license required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- Additional preferred certifications: PALS, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute).
Skills
- Comfortable with NST/DVP, OB Intake/Triage, Pregnancy Assessment Clinics, Patient calls, Procedure clinic with moderate sedation, and In basket management.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records system.
- Knowledge of high-risk OB, OB/GYN triage, assessment, blood glucose monitoring, pelvic exams, and ectopic pregnancy management.
Prior Travel Experience

Work Schedule
- 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (Monday through Friday).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Comprehensive background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, 7-year nationwide and county criminal searches, FACIS Level 3, National Sex Offender, OIG Sanction, OFAC, SAM.gov.
Licenses & Verifications
- Current, unencumbered California RN license.
- Education verification of highest degree completed.
- NURSYS verification within 15 days prior to start.
Health & Immunizations
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.
- Fit mask test within 90 days of start (specific mask types required).
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or signed declination.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray updated annually.
- TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required annually.
- Drug testing (oral saliva screen) within 30 days of start.
Competencies & Training
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Color blind testing within 90 days of start.
- Completion of facility-specific competencies and new employee orientation modules on the first day of work.
- Photo for badge (passport style, no filters).
Employment History & References
- Resume covering last 7 years of employment required.
- Employment verification for past 3 years required.
- References required per agency standards (not facility requirement).

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Registered Nurse with strong Labor & Delivery skills in a high-risk OB/GYN environment.
