Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Hurricane, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM)
Schedule: Every other weekend required
Contract Options: 36 or 48 hours per week guaranteed
Unit Description:
- 5 Beds + Endoscopy 2 Beds
- Diagnostic services include electrocardiography, respiratory monitoring, nuclear medicine, radiology, suturing, and splint application
Floating: Clinician may be floated within scope to meet facility needs
Schedule Flexibility: Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
Travel Radius: Candidate must live greater than 100 miles from the facility (100-mile radius rule)
License: WV/Compact RN License required (pending RN license can be submitted)

Experience Requirements

Minimum RN Experience: 2 years
In-Specialty Experience: 1 year (ER)
Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications

BLS (AHA only)
ACLS (AHA only)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required for ER units; must have Blue Card, online courses not accepted
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - preferred/required for ER
Fit Testing (annual) - 3M N95 1860 Small or Regular and Aura 9205 only; onsite fit testing may be accommodated
Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO) but not mandatory for this ER role

Care of ventilated patients

Orientation & Start Dates

Held every other week on Thursday
Orientation is two days (Thursday and Friday) including Cerner Infusion Management training

Compliance & Screening Requirements

Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
- SSN Trace, Counties, Sex Offender Search, National Criminal, and International searches if applicable
Drug Testing:
- Must be within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Includes testing for Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Cocaine, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Benzodiazepines, Methadone, and Propoxyphene
Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate medical provider, confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Negative TB test within 3 months of start (2-step skin test or preferred QGold/TSpot) or negative chest X-ray for positive responders
- Annual TB questionnaire for positive TB responders
- Vaccinations or proof of immunity required for:
  - Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
  - Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titers; boosters required if negative/equivocal)
  - Hepatitis B (series or positive titer; declination allowed if series completed and titer negative)
  - Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titers; boosters if negative/equivocal)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required (no declinations accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory; proof of vaccination or signed declination accepted
Pass/Fail Testing:
- Required for nursing candidates only (EKG Exam, Medication Calculation Exam, Blood Administration Test)
- Two attempts allowed per exam

Additional Requirements

Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card
Must submit a minimum of 2 manager/charge nurse references preferably within the past 2 years
Must have a clean license with no prior suspensions (probations considered case-by-case)
Flu shot required unless medically exempt with documentation from an allergist or physician
Candidates who have worked permanently at the facility cannot return as travelers for 3 years after last permanent date

Candidates must complete annual skills checklist for specialty
Color Blind Testing required prior to start
Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed, signed, and returned prior to start (e.g., dress code, blood administration policy, time and attendance, vaccination exemption forms)
Orientation includes required inservice training modules that must be completed approximately 1 week before start (estimated 4 hours)
