Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Tele Float position with a call-off policy of maximum 3 per contract
• Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
• Local rule: Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from Saratoga Springs (specific counties excluded)

Requirements

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • New York RN License in hand
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Epic charting experience required
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • At least 1 year current experience with telemetry population
  • Critical drip and CVA experience a plus
• Skills:

  • Telemetry skills required
  • Must be able to read cardiac rhythms and pass a hospital proctored test with >80% accuracy in rhythm identification and 100% accuracy in identifying critical rhythms
• Vaccinations:

  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required

Testing & Competencies

• Must pass advanced EKG/ECG test within 72 hours of signing contract with a minimum 90% score and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation and clinical support if needed
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
• Color blindness test preferred
• NIH Stroke Certification required for certain units (assigned if not on file)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start; onsite physical required before start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold acceptable; T-spot not accepted)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
• Required immunizations or titers:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella
• Fit mask test (N95 OSHA questionnaire and fit test) required; quantitative fit test only accepted for 3M 1870 mask
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5th, 2024; mask required if exempt

Orientation & Documentation

• Must complete virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start
• Passport-style photo required for badge
• Various facility-specific forms and assessments required (lift assessment, FCRA authorization, ECG study guide, TSH medical history, PPD questionnaire, N95 OSHA questionnaire)
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required for all RNs and LPNs per New York State mandate

References

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care positions
• 1 professional reference required for per diem non-acute care positions

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required for this position

Summary

This is a telemetry float RN travel contract in Saratoga Springs, NY, requiring a minimum of 2 years nursing experience with at least 1 year in telemetry.
