Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - Travel/Contract

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Description

• Position: CVOR Certified Surgical Tech, First Assist
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM with on-call required
• Certifications Required:

  • NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
  • CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required (Level 1 experience)
  • First-time travelers are welcome (no prior travel experience required)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
• State License (Missouri or Compact License) with Primary Source Verification prior to start
• NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP as applicable)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 12 months, including:

  • SSN Trace
  • 7-year county residence/work history
  • Nationwide search
  • Sex offender search
• State-specific searches required for Missouri candidates (MO EDL Search, MO Family Care Safety Registry)
• Drug screening within 12 months of start
• Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
• TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if positive PPD
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (for new candidates)
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season
• COVID vaccination series preferred

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background)
• Confidentiality and Security Agreement signed prior to start
• Standards of Ethical Conduct and Relevant Policies signed prior to start
• Respirator fit testing onsite during first week of orientation (annual requirement)
• Completion of required training modules annually via LMS platform
• Post-start orientation checklists to be completed during orientation
• AbioMed Impella Online Training required for ICU/CCU and Cath Lab candidates (annual update)
• OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start (except certain non-patient facing roles)

Additional Competencies & Exams

• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for certain units)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya requirement, not required by facility)
• Color Blind Testing (if applicable)
• Skills Checklist required

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
• Candidates must comply with all state and facility-specific documentation and screening requirements prior to start.
• Onsite fit testing and orientation requirements must be completed as scheduled to maintain assignment eligibility.
