Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized radiation treatments according to physician-developed treatment plans.
- Work independently using sound judgment and clinical skills to deliver safe, precise, and timely procedures.
- Provide competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.
- May perform specific procedures and orient other staff to the department.
- No weekends, call, or floating required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
- CRT (Certified Radiation Therapist) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC only)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions and facial hair).
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual renewal required)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (11/1-4/30) or signed declination
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually.
Competency and Skills Verification
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit.
