Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed on holidays or weekends, and no time off the day before or after a holiday
• Floating: Mandatory float facility; all staff must float within their scope as needed
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
• Experience working with High Risk patients
• Certifications:

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • AWHONN Intermediate
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Additional Requirements

• Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, updated annually
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, annually required
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer), Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B series or titer or signed declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology, color blindness, and general competency exams required within 12 months of start
• References: Two professional references within 2 years recommended (not mandatory)

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit requirement for prior travel experience

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with high-risk OB experience seeking a travel contract in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment with a structured schedule and mandatory floating duties.
