Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Greensboro, North Carolina

• Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Schedule: Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Call: No call required
• Float: All travelers may be floated between campuses as needed

Job Description

• Care for stable trauma patients specializing in surgical trauma care
• Provide pre-op and post-op care for surgical patients
• Use rapid response teams, administer blood products, and manage peripheral lines
• Patient population includes high volume of exploratory laparotomies, hemi-colectomies, mastectomies, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, eye surgeries, trauma, and plastic surgeries
• Lower volume includes gynecological surgeries (e.g., hysterectomy, myomectomy), palliative care, 24-hour observation, and medical overflow patients

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted; preference for some experience in surgery trauma

Required Certifications & Licenses

• License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs
  • EPIC system proficiency required
• Additional certifications may be preferred depending on unit (e.g., TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Social Security Card
• Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification (Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing required)
• Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
• Verification of employment history for the last 5 years
• 2 supervisory references required (at least one within 12 months prior to start)
• Physical exam (if applicable)
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
• Fit mask test (annual) for N95 respirators (not required for all positions)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
• Candidates must complete a mandatory health history form and other facility-specific documents prior to clearance
• Floating between campuses is a requirement for all travelers
• EPIC test requires passing score with up to 2 attempts; additional attempts may be allowed at manager discretion
• Pass/fail EKG testing allows 2 attempts with remediation after the first attempt; must score 82% or higher to pass
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and other facility-specific acknowledgements are required

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience with at least 2 years, including experience within the last year
• Experience caring for stable trauma patients
• Experience providing pre-op and post-op care for surgical patients
• Experience working in a surgery/trauma setting
• Experience using rapid response teams
• Trauma nursing experience
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Pass/fail EKG exam required for all RNs
• MAB (Medication Administration by Blood) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
