Job Opportunity: Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse

Location: Covington, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (5:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in an outpatient same-day surgery setting.
• Scrubs color: Navy

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient surgery nursing experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Competencies & Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually).
• Core Competency Parts I, II, and III (updated annually).

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation.
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:

  • Social Security trace
  • County, nationwide, sex offender, federal, and FACIS Level 3 checks
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Sex offender search as per client request.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines (two-step skin test or equivalent).
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start).
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted under proper documentation. Mask required if unvaccinated.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date).

Additional Notes

• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification is not specifically required for this role.
• Must complete all required documentation and verifications within specified timeframes (generally within 30 days of start).
