PICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Provide family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) setting. Care includes pre-operative and immediate post-operative surgical patients, trauma patients, and cardiac procedural patients. The role requires floating between two hospital locations within the Minneapolis/St. Paul area as needed.


Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Approximately 48 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Minnesota
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year prior to start, including:
    • SSN trace
    • 7-year county and nationwide criminal search
    • National sex offender registry check
    • FACIS level 3 check
  • Education verification confirming nursing degree from an accredited program
  • Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (candidates cannot begin work with fingerprints pending unless approved with a “more time needed” letter)
  • Completion of Minnesota DHS NetStudy Questionnaire immediately after contract signing
  • Employment application required

Additional Information

  • Uniform: Royal blue scrub bottoms with kid-friendly shirt or scrub top
  • Floating between two hospital campuses in Minneapolis and St. Paul as needed
  • Candidates must be able to start ideally by May 18, 2026, but start dates up to June 8, 2026, may be considered
