Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Shift: Nights (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 19:00 - 7:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide independent care for Level I trauma patients in a Level I Trauma Emergency Room (ER) setting.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically ranges from 4:1 to 5:1 depending on assignment.
- Work every other week (EOW) schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent Trauma ER (Emergency Room) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients in a Level I Trauma Emergency Room setting.
- Emergency Department (ED) experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 6 months of start, signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA, confirming freedom from communicable diseases and ability to perform job functions without restrictions.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests not accepted).
- Annual fit test for approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or 1860 Small only).
- QuantiFERON (QGOLD) TB test within 6 months of start (TSPOT and PPD not accepted); chest X-ray accepted if prior positive.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella; Hepatitis B series/titer or declination; Varicella vaccines or titer).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).

- Clinical Reference Guides
- Dysphagia and Aspiration Precautions
- Caring for Patients with Obstetrical Emergencies (Nursing only)
- Required Request Law: Organ Donation (Nursing only)
- Blood Administration & Anticoagulant Therapy (Nursing only)
- HIPAA Privacy Training (all candidates)
- Annual skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exam.
- Color blindness testing annually (minimum 80% score).
- Other nursing-specific modules related to safety, infection control, and equipment use.
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
- Passport-style badge photo required (color, white background, no obstructions).
- Compliance with data security and privacy policies.
- Must complete Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting with clearance on file prior to start.
- Local candidates considered within a 60-mile radius.
Work Environment
- Level I Trauma ER with high acuity patients.
- Night shift with every other week schedule.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio varies by assignment area.
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with strong trauma skills, Epic experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced Level I Trauma environment.
