Registered Nurse - Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7pm-7am), weekdays and some weekends
Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, may flex to 1:5 in emergencies
Start Date: ASAP

Unit & Patient Info

• Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit with patients similar to Progressive Care or Telemetry in larger facilities
• Acuity levels vary
• Must be able to read cardiac telemetry strips

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse license in West Virginia
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year telemetry experience within the last year
• Stepdown nursing experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Details

• Holiday time off requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• Weekend block schedules considered (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)
• Scrubs: Burgundy and/or white (not provided)
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Proof of RN license verification
• Specialty-specific skills checklist
• Minimum 2 clinical references within past 2 years
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Proof of required certifications on file prior to start (no pending certifications allowed)
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not permitted)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules and competency exams prior to orientation
• Color blindness testing and competency exams as required
• ReadySet health assessment surveys completed prior to start
• Photo for badge required before clearance

Notes

• Candidates must have all required certifications and documentation completed and verified before starting
• Cerner EMR training modules must be completed prior to orientation
• Stroke education CEUs (8 hours annually) and NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown RNs comfortable with telemetry and night shifts, seeking a travel contract in West Virginia.
