Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Patient Population: 6 months to adult
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in PACU (highest requirement)
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Weekend Requirement: No
• On-call Requirement: Short call; night call required
• Special Requirements: Pediatric experience preferred; PALS certification required

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required if assignment is extended past 13 weeks
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - preferred for NICU but not mandatory for this role
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., CHEMO for Oncology, EFM for L&D) but not applicable here

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license for Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience
• PALS certification
• Pediatric experience preferred
• Ability to work night shifts and be available for short on-call
• Background checks and verifications as per state and facility requirements
• Proof of name change if applicable
• Compliance with all health and safety requirements including immunizations and screenings

Additional Requirements and Information

• Background checks including 10-year criminal history and various federal/state sanctions
• Statewide CORI release required within 60 days of start
• Health documents including physical exam, immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap), TB testing, drug screening, and COVID/flu vaccination or approved exemptions
• Respiratory safety clearance and fit testing (RespSafety) required
• Two professional references from two separate employers within the last 3 places of employment
• Employment application with 10-year work history and explanation for any gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist specific to scope of practice within one year prior to start
• Onboarding packet completion prior to start date
• Flu and COVID vaccine documentation or approved exemptions required by specified deadlines
• No weekend shifts required, but night shifts and short on-call availability are mandatory
• Parking available with discounted rates and free parking for night shifts

Summary

This is a travel contract RN position in the PACU with a focus on pediatric and adult patients. The role requires at least 2 years of PACU experience, PALS certification, and the ability to work night shifts with short on-call duties. The facility is a high-level acute care center with Magnet status and trauma designation. Comprehensive background checks, health screenings, and immunizations are mandatory.
