Registered Nurse (Medsurg/ED Swing)

Location: Turtle Lake, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Department: Medsurg
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Scheduling: Block scheduling allowed, self-scheduling available
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Alternating holidays
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: May be floated to ER based on experience
• Orientation: 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation (one department only)
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: Team assignment
• Charge Nurse: Present on each shift, takes team assignments (not individual)
• Nurse Aides/CNAs: Present on each shift
• RT Equipment: Patient managed CPAP only; RNs not required to troubleshoot beyond basic
• Telemetry: Telemonitor capacity available, no tele/monitor techs on unit
• RN Responsibilities: Not required to titrate drips or read their own cardiac strips
• Dress Code: Scrubs provided, no specific color required

Patient Population & Environment

• Facility Type: 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (rural location)
• Common Patient Types: Mostly geriatric population, general rehab post-surgery
• Preferred Experience: ER experience preferred
• Clinical Focus: Understanding of dementia, stroke, skin care, geriatric patient care

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)

Preferred Certifications

• PALS
• TNCC

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

• EPIC system

Additional Notes

• No clinical involvement beyond nursing scope described
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating to ER may occur based on experience
• Radius rule: Candidates must be located within 50 miles and not currently employed part-time, full-time, or PRN with any related facilities
• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals after submission

This position is ideal for a Medsurg/ED nurse with solid experience in geriatric care and a preference or background in emergency nursing, seeking a rural critical access hospital setting with team-based assignments and a stable schedule.
