Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU

Location: Klamath Falls, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Patient types include cardiac, post catheterization/pacemaker, pneumonia, COVID-19, alcohol-related cases, ICU downgrades
No open heart patients on this unit

Shift Details

12-hour shifts
Day shift: 05:45 AM – 6:15 PM
Night shift: 5:30 PM – 6:15 AM
Weekend requirement: Typically every other weekend (may vary)
Holiday requirement: Yes
No call or standby requirement
Floating: Not required, but may be requested if skill set allows and RN agrees

Staffing & Support

Charge nurse present in the department, acts as hospital supervisor 24/7
Nurse aides available (ratio approximately 8-9 patients per aide)
Remote telemetry support via central monitoring unit
Monitor techs available to assist
RNs read telemetry strips; basic rhythm interpretation experience ideal but not mandatory

Clinical Responsibilities

Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation (at least basic level)
Cardiac drip titrations (excluding pressors or sedation)
RNs are required to titrate insulin drips
Common titratable and/or set rate drips include:
- Insulin
- Heparin
- Cardizem
- Nitro
- Amiodarone
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine

Orientation

Unit-specific orientation required
Duration: 1-2 shifts depending on experience and prior familiarity with the facility
Night shift orientation includes every other weekend scheduling

Required Certifications & Qualifications

ACLS Certification
BLS Certification

Additional Information

Dress code: Clean and professional attire, no specific scrub color required
