Job Opportunity: Virtual Monitor Tech
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
This position involves remote surveillance of cardio-pulmonary rhythms for multiple locations via a central monitoring station in a virtual hospital setting. The Virtual Monitor Tech is responsible for recognizing, recording, and reporting potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias according to established protocols and regulatory requirements. Work is performed under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor up to 45-60 patients simultaneously using advanced IT technology.
- Accurately recognize cardiac rhythms and follow command center policies.
- Take appropriate action and notify local RN staff of changes in cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias.
- Follow proper communication channels for routine and emergency situations.
- Adhere to established protocols and strive to improve patient outcomes and department metrics.
- Opportunity to cross-train in Virtual Patient Companion or Clinical Connection Specialist roles.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- No set schedules; must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule (weekends defined as Friday/Saturday for night shift and Saturday/Sunday for day shift)
- Holiday work required
- No regular call or standby, but may occur if census drops
- Orientation includes unit/department-specific training and mandatory in-person session with equipment team
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Technician, including experience within the last year
- 2 years of recent experience in cardiac telemetry/remote monitoring specialty related to the job
- BLS Certification required
Additional Information
- Position operates within a 50-mile radius rule
- Business casual dress code
- Facility does not sign timesheets
- Orientation and training provided, including specialized equipment training (GE and Ascom monitors)
Experience Notes
- Will consider candidates with less than 2 years of experience if other qualifications are strong
- 3 months of education requirement may be waived for strong candidates
