Med Surg RN Travel Assignment - Wisconsin

Job Requirements & Details

• Experience: Minimum 1 year Med Surg nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome.
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Patient Population: Adults, including post-surgical orthopedic patients and general medical patients with cardiac, pulmonary, renal, GI, and urology diagnoses.
• Nurse/Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4.
• Unit Size: 25 beds.
• Drip Management: RNs occasionally titrate drips such as heparin, insulin, IV fluids, electrolytes, diltiazem, antibiotics, occasional dopamine, and TPN.
• Support Staff:

  • Nurse aides present (2 during day shift, 1.5 during PM shift).
  • Respiratory therapists available for ventilator support; RNs assist as needed.
  • No dedicated tele/monitor techs; Mindray monitoring system used.
  • House Supervisor always on duty but not required to take patient assignments.

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts.
• Shift Times: 3 AM to 3 PM or 3 PM to 3 AM.
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; block scheduling may be available upon request.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirement: Yes.
• Call/Standby: None required.
• Floating: No floating required.
• Orientation: Unit-specific orientation provided based on individual needs.
• Dress Code: Charcoal/pewter gray scrubs, any style; scrubs provided.
