Respiratory Therapist Job Opportunity - Arizona, Yuma
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Location: Yuma, Arizona
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Hours: 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week
- Work Schedule: Every other weekend required; travelers will work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Floating: May float to a freestanding Emergency Department located 15 minutes away
- Dress Code: Black scrubs
Patient Population & Work Environment
- Treats adults, pediatrics, and neonates (neonates only if NICU trained)
- Will attend all deliveries and C-sections if NICU trained
- Areas covered include inpatient units and a freestanding Emergency Department
- Typically 5-6 ventilator treatments per day; approximately 35 treatments in a 12-hour shift
- Intensivist available in-house 24/7
- Charge RRT present on each shift
- May be the only RT in the freestanding ED but not alone in the main hospital
Equipment Used
- Ventilators: Vent-Avea, Hamilton C1, Zoll (backup)
- Non-invasive ventilation: Bipap-V60, EV300, HiFlow-Aerovo 2
- Intubation tools: Glidescope and Glidescope-GO
Job Duties
- Drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Administering respiratory treatments
- Managing ventilator settings
- Assisting with intubations (independent intubation not required)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Arizona
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Orientation & Training
- Unit-specific orientation includes:
- One day Neonatal Orientation (if applicable)
- One day Emergency Department orientation
- One day ICU orientation
- One day floor orientation
- Additional NICU day if NICU experience is present
Additional Information
- Start dates are fixed and not flexible
- May be placed on low census call or standby
- Must comply with a 100-mile radius rule for travel
This opportunity is suitable for experienced RRTs comfortable with a diverse patient population including adults, pediatrics, and neonates, and who are willing to work in both hospital and freestanding ED settings.
