Location

  • Salt Lake City, Utah

Contract

  • 16 weeks
  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour night shifts

Specialty

  • Medical-surgical telemetry float pool

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • 2 years of medical-surgical telemetry experience in the last 3 years
  • BLS
  • ACLS

Preferred Experience

  • Prior neuro experience

Patient Population

  • Adults and geriatrics
  • Cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology, post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, general medicine, and stable long-term placement patients

Unit Details

  • Float pool covering multiple units, including general medical-surgical telemetry and specialties such as cardiac, neuro, oncology, rehab, renal, bariatrics, ortho, trauma, and ED observation
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6 based on acuity
  • Designated charge nurse on each unit
  • Nursing assistants available
  • Respiratory therapy equipment available
  • Heparin drips may be titrated

Scheduling

  • Schedule is set by leadership in 6-week blocks
  • Travelers are expected to be flexible to help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
  • 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
  • Rare call/standby for low census

Floating

  • May float to other acuity levels, including ICU, PCU/stepdown, and medical-surgical telemetry
  • May float between hospitals within the zone

Orientation

  • 1-2 days with a preceptor

Dress Code

  • Any color scrubs

Additional Notes

  • Must be in state for the week of orientation
  • May be floated mid-shift
  • Housing is the traveler’s responsibility and is at additional cost
