ICU Registered Nurse

Location

• Iron Mountain, Michigan

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Shift

• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts

Schedule

• 4 shifts per week
• Weekend rotation required
• Holiday coverage required
• Call or standby may be required

Unit Overview

• ICU with 5 beds
• Typical patient ratios: 2:1 in ICU and 3:1 in IMC depending on acuity
• Common cases include respiratory failure, septic shock, detox, DKA, and atrial fibrillation/arrhythmias requiring pacing
• Strong ventilator management is important

Required Qualifications

• Active ACLS certification
• Active BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Must be comfortable floating to Med/Surg and MS-Tele
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to troubleshoot and assist with respiratory equipment as needed
• Must be able to read and verify telemetry strips
• Must be able to float to Med/Surg and may take ratios of 1:3-6

Additional Notes

• Limited resources onsite
• Charge nurse takes a full assignment
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Orientation includes computer education, shadowing, and then independent work by day 3
• Clinicians who have previously worked for the facility must have an end date at least 6 months before submission
