Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• CVICU (2 years of experience)
• CVICU experience within the last year
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
• Must be able to interpret cardiac strips
• Must be able to titrate drips

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS
• CCRN

Unit Details

• 20-bed unit with all private, monitored rooms
• Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
• Travelers are expected to float to every level of care and take a full team
• Charge nurses are present 24/7 and may take teams
• House supervisor is present 24/7
• PCTs are available
• Respiratory therapists are available 24/7
• Monitor techs are available

Patient Population

• Adult cardiovascular ICU patients, including post-open-heart surgery, vascular, STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, severe heart failure, TAVR, ventilated patients, and overflow ICU patients
• Uses IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide
• Common lines include PICC, midline, CVC, Swan, and arterial lines

Work Environment

• Fast-paced, high-stress setting
• Must be able to start independently without training on equipment or patient population
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, organization, teamwork, compassion, motivation, time management, and positive behavior are expected

Dress Code

• Scrubs must be clean and appropriate
• Scrubs are not provided
