Registered Nurse (RN) – Tower 2 Med/Surg - Ortho

Location: Livingston, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical with Orthopedic patients
• Number of Beds: 12
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Orthopedic cases
• Respiratory Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow oxygen patients
• Telemetry: Tele monitor techs monitor patients; RNs must be able to read cardiac strips

Work Schedule & Requirements

• Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours
• Scheduling: Managed by supervisor; block scheduling not guaranteed
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays required
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: Must be willing and able to float to all medical/telemetry units

Orientation & Support

• Orientation: 2 shadow/orientation shifts before working independently
• Orientation Shift Times: 6:45 PM – 7:00 AM
• Orientation Schedule: Week 1 – Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday; Week 2 – Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
• Support Staff: Charge Nurse, House Supervisors, Nurse Educators available
• Nurse Aides: Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) present at a 1:12 ratio

Required Certifications & Skills

• Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
• Skills: Strong communication and time management skills
• Drip Management: RNs are not required to titrate drips

Dress Code

• Scrub Color: Navy blue

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification

• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
• No call or standby duties.
