Overview

• Location: Omaha, Nebraska
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Unit: Med/Surg
• Beds: 28

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS certification
• Must be able to care for a wide variety of patients
• Willingness to teach and learn in an academic institute
• Driver’s license required at submittal

Unit Details

• Typical patient population includes cardiology, surgical oncology, urology, and complex general med surg patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
• Telemetry is used on the unit
• Centralized monitoring techs are present
• RN must be able to read basic strips
• Common titratable or set-rate drip: IVF
• Respiratory equipment includes nasal cannula, <6L if acute, and trach collar

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Self-scheduling, with scheduling balanced by the manager
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays required
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating is based on skill level

Orientation

• 1-2 days of orientation

Additional Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
• RNs must pass an open-book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher
