Endoscopy Tech Travel Opportunity
Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, plus call rotation
Call Requirements:
- One-week call rotation from 3:00 PM to 6:00 AM Monday through Friday
- Weekends on call from 7:00 AM Saturday to 7:00 AM Sunday
Job Description
- Prepare procedure rooms and set up equipment, instruments, and supplies for endoscopic procedures
- Assist procedural teams by anticipating physician needs and supporting patient positioning
- Clean, decontaminate, and perform high-level disinfection of endoscopic equipment per guidelines
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize procedural delays
- Handle, label, and document specimens and cultures according to policy
- Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies, removing expired items as needed
- Maintain accurate department records, including quality control documentation for decontamination and equipment maintenance
- Assist physicians in advanced endoscopic procedures on high-acuity patients, including:
- Complex ERCP procedures (Grade III)
- SPYGlass cholangioscopy
- Endomucosal resection
- Sphincter of Oddi manometry and pancreatic endotherapy (stenting)
- Ultrasound-guided interventions
- Peroral endoscopic myotomy
- Double balloon enteroscopies
- Endosuturing and Overstitch
- Cystgastroscopy
- Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)
- Endoscopic vacuum therapy
- Select and operate appropriate equipment and accessories for advanced procedures, including lasers
- Participate in training, precepting, and hosting observers in clinical and lab settings
- Perform decontamination functions including instrument washer operation, cleaning, leak testing, and maintenance documentation
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) certification
Additional Information
- Average caseload: 15-18 cases per day, 7-8 cases on Saturdays
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- No floating required
- Scrubs: Any color
- Electronic Medical Records systems used: Medhost and PICIS
- No prior travel experience required
Skills and Knowledge
- Effective communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Knowledge of professional and practice issues related to Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
- Ability to safely operate lasers and adhere to laser safety standards
- Ability to train and mentor peers and new technicians
Work Environment
- Call rotation includes nights and weekends as specified
- Work involves direct patient care and technical support in endoscopy procedure rooms
- Emphasis on compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards
