Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in a busy urban Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups. Coordinate care with ancillary departments and maintain professional accountability consistent with nursing standards and state regulations.
Work Schedule
- Night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
- Weekend hours as required
- No call requirements
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full availability for the orientation week
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Time off requests (RTO) must be made after the first week and can only include one holiday request per assignment
Unit Information
- Emergency Department with 68 beds
- Patient ratio typically 4:1 (may vary during surges)
- Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
- Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, STEMI, and Regional Burn Center
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with trauma and pediatric patients
- High acuity patient care experience (200+ patients/day preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Strong clinical expertise in emergency nursing
- Effective communication and human relations skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Determined, decisive, and flexible personality fit
Physical and Working Conditions
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
- Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Professional attire required; black scrubs preferred; jeans and unprofessional attire are not allowed
