Registered Nurse (NICU) - Travel Position

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide routine and complex nursing care in a Level 4 NICU setting, caring for patients ranging from feeder growers to complex ICU neonatal patients.
  • Practice independently with awareness of all relevant clinical aspects.
  • Manage clinical situations by making appropriate assignments and delegating to other care providers.
  • Patient ratios vary between 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4; CNAs support 1:4 assignments.
  • Work schedule: 7 AM to 7 PM, full-time.
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekends per six weeks, including two Mondays and two Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Administer medications and treatments following protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Meet organizational competency expectations as a Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within the last year.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants).
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
