Role Purpose

The Registered Nurse will administer nursing care to patients efficiently, safely, and courteously, demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care. The nurse will assess patient data, interpret clinical needs, and provide evidence-based care to improve health outcomes.

Essential Role Functions

• Practice within Nursing Standards of Practice and follow hospital policies and procedures.
• Focus on patient-centered care, team building, and customer service.
• Supervise non-professional staff and assist physicians in patient care.
• Document nursing care accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participate in departmental meetings and educational opportunities.
• Maintain knowledge of patient status and adjust care plans as needed.

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Patient Ratio:

  • ICU: 2:1 for ICU patients; 4:1 for Med Surg patients if no ICU patients are present.
• Patient Population:

  • Common conditions include DKA, cardiac issues, sepsis, surgical cases, and patients at high risk of decline.

Qualifications

Regulatory/Educational Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (Associate degree required; Bachelor’s preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse Licensure in Colorado (Compact license accepted; Colorado license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications (PALS and ACLS within 6 months of hire).
• Successful completion of an EKG course within 4 months of hire.
• Minimum of 1 year of ICU/Inpatient experience preferred.

Skills

• Effective communication skills in English (additional languages preferred).
• Strong organizational and customer service skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Work Environment

• Potential exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, and moderate to loud noise levels.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally and performing a full range of movements.
