Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Newburgh, Indiana
• 13-week contract
• Day shift: 12 hours, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• Primary location: Gateway
• Clinical interview

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Recover heart catheterizations (femoral/TR bands)
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• Cardiac drip management (cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, protonix)
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) experience
• Detox/CIWA protocol experience
• Central line care
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic

Unit Details

• Cardiac Renal Unit MS/Tele RN
• 34-bed unit
• Patient ratio: Days 1:4-5; nights 1:6-7
• CN takes a patient assignment

Float / Coverage

• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Midtown campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible; cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible
• 2 hours’ notice given for cross-campus float

Schedule Requirements

• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday

Clinical Skills / Experience

• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• PIV insertion
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Patient Population

• Post cardiac procedure patients, including heart cath, ablation, and pacemaker
• A-fib RVR
• ESRD
• CHF
• Sepsis
• Tracheostomies
• Nephrostomy tubes/CBI/renal biopsy
• Behavioral health/detox

Additional Notes

• No local candidates within 40 miles
• Navy blue scrubs
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Covid-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
