Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Marion, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical / Telemetry with Neuro focus
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (NOCS)
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Float Requirement: May float to the medical unit
• On Call/Call Back: Not required
• Unit: 22-bed Neuro unit
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Patient Population: Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients including CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, cerebral angiogram, and general medical patients
• Charting System: Recent EPIC experience required

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of strong Medical Surgical / Telemetry experience
  • Neuro experience required
  • Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment (prior travel experience required)
• Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current active Illinois RN license
  • AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Skills:

  • Strong neuro assessments including NIHSS and dysphagia screening
  • Basic telemetry interpretation
  • Strict intake & output monitoring
  • Foley catheter and straight catheter care
  • Initiate and titrate heparin drips
  • Blood and blood product administration, venipuncture, blood cultures
  • NG tube and indwelling drain management
  • Management of stable drips (e.g., Protonix, Lasix)
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required
• Other:

  • Must be resilient, adaptable to change, and socially engaging
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required (subject to change)

• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius will be considered
• Guaranteed hours may not apply during orientation week or holidays when the unit is closed
