Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Job Overview

• Work on a 25-bed Medical-Surgical unit primarily caring for geriatric patients with CHF, COPD, and diabetes.
• Patient ratios: Day shift 4-5 patients per nurse; Night shift average 6 patients per nurse.
• Float to Emergency Department within competency as required.
• Shift options: 12-hour shifts, either 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
• Weekend and holiday rotation every other weekend/holiday.
• On-call requirements: may be low censused and placed on call with a minimum 2-hour callback.
• Guaranteed 72 hours biweekly; overtime after 80 hours in the second week.

Required Qualifications

• Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred but not required.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Medical-Surgical RN.
• Must have ICU and Emergency Room experience.
• Strong charting skills with experience using CareScape patient monitors, Epic EMR, and Pyxis medication dispensing system.

Additional Information

• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• Scrub color: any color allowed.
• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action.
• Contract includes eligibility for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours.
• Orientation week is exempt from GSA rules.

Summary

This travel RN position requires a skilled Medical-Surgical nurse with ICU and ER experience, comfortable with variable 12-hour shifts and floating to the ED. Strong clinical and charting skills are essential, along with compliance with vaccination and mask policies during flu season.
