Job Description

  • Perform patient transfers with assistance as needed (bed, chair, floor).
  • Demonstrate safe and appropriate body mechanics to reduce injury risk.
  • Design and adjust plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
  • Evaluate clinical findings to determine physical therapy diagnoses and outcomes.
  • Perform examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to patient complaints and history.
  • Screen patients to determine the need and effectiveness of therapy services.
  • Use and supervise support personnel according to legal and ethical guidelines, providing regular feedback.
  • Document evaluations, plans of care, goals, treatment modifications, and patient responses per department policy.
  • Complete annual education as required for compliance with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program (if applicable).
  • Implement intervention plans with functional activities considering patient/family emotional and functional needs.
  • Modify approaches based on patient behavior and performance.
  • Utilize standardized outcome measures uniformly to reflect functional performance accurately.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and significant others throughout rehabilitation, providing education and family training.
  • Supervise COTA and rehabilitation technicians in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate patient status, activity/transfer recommendations, discharge disposition, and equipment needs clearly with the medical team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy (OT) license from Illinois
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
