Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and quality nursing care based on the Department of Nursing’s philosophy and goals. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring and Relationship Based Care. The role involves collaborating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote health and restore wellness, while providing care tailored to the physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care consistent with interdisciplinary plans and Relationship Based Care principles.
- Continuously assess patient physical and psychosocial conditions and formulate nursing diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans ensuring patient safety, comfort, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Perform nursing skills, explain treatments, and educate patients and families on health care needs.
- Evaluate care effectiveness and modify plans as necessary.
- Demonstrate knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise care team members.
- Advocate for patients by facilitating informed decision-making and improving health care delivery.
- Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards.
- Coordinate patient care activities with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary staff.
- Document nursing care according to hospital policies and utilize information systems to enhance productivity.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences and assist in resolving complaints promptly.
Requirements
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of acute care experience required
- Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing; Associate Degree or BSN accepted
- Licenses/Certifications:
- California RN License (required)
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- Skills:
- Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
- Ability to perform physical duties including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills
- Other: Completion of annual organizational employment requirements
