Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• General Medical-Surgical (MS) unit with Telemetry
• Patient types include Diabetes, Renal Insufficiency, some Overnight Orthopedics, Vascular Insufficiency, Wound Care, and Stroke Unit backup
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 (1:4 if cardiac drip)

Schedule & Shift Details

• Shift: Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Scheduling options: alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts every other week, or straight 4x12 shifts
• Weekend work required
• Call not required
• Float required
• Holiday work required (at least 2 out of 3 holidays)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Skills & Competencies

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Competency exams required within 12 months of start and updated annually, including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency (minimum 80% score)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (minimum 80% score)
  • Core competencies (Parts I, II, III)

Equipment & Technology

• Use of Alaris infusion pumps and Vital Sync monitors

Appearance & Dress Code

• Scrubs: Navy blue or combination with white

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, federal extended, and FACIS Level 3
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• E-Verify/I9 documentation required
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines (two-step skin test or equivalent)
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination signed within 12 months of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted with proper documentation; mask required if unvaccinated

Additional Notes

• Return to Office (RTO) time off less than 5 days or added to end of contract
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification not required for this unit
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

This position is ideal for experienced MS/Telemetry RNs comfortable with telemetry monitoring, cardiac patient care, and working flexible 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays.
