OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Day shift primarily (4x10 hours, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM) with possible night shift rotation (4x10 hours, 5:30 PM - 5:30 AM)
• Weeknight call required: approximately 1-2 nights per week
• Weekend call required: approximately every 4-5 weekends
• No block scheduling available
• Surgical volume: 30 rooms, 60-80 cases per day
• B-Weekly orientation provided
• Possibility of 1-3 off-shifts per 4-week scheduling period, but often none
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Locals not accepted; candidate must live more than 100 miles from the facility

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment as a Surgical Technologist
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Valid Driver's License
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications & Licenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), and other certifications as applicable per unit description
• State license verification and primary source verification required prior to start

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check within 30 days of start, updated annually, including multi-county and nationwide checks
• SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
• State-specific abuse/neglect registry search required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually (specific panel required)
• Annual skills checklist required
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years; if not a current traveler, one must be from most recent employer

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask models required)
• Tdap/Tetanus vaccine within last 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• TB questionnaire if history of positive TB, updated annually
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers required; boosters required for low/equivocal titers
• Hepatitis B titer required; declination acceptable if non-reactive
• Varicella vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required for low/equivocal titers
• Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemption or declination accepted
• Baseline eye exam (Snellen) required within 30 days of start for OR staff

Additional Notes

• Candidates must provide interview availability for the next 3-4 days when subbing
• This position involves working with some of the sickest and most complex patients in a high-volume surgical environment
• Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific welcome packet
