Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Tele

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• Neuro/Stroke patients
• Vascular surgeries
• Multi-level back surgeries
• Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
• ECMO cases

Work Schedule

• Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend shifts required
• Holiday shifts required (at least 2 out of 3 holidays)
• No on-call duties
• Float required
• Patient ratio: 1:6

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years experience in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or Neuro nursing
• Strong neuro nursing skills required
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Competency in interpretation and management of:

  • Dysrhythmias
  • Cerebrovascular accidents (CVA)
  • Pre/post neuro surgery care
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Traumatic brain injuries

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• NIH Stroke Certification

Preferred Certification:

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card (may be completed onsite within 30 days of start)

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, etc.)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months of start and annually
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 12 months, updated annually (minimum 80% score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 12 months, updated annually (minimum 80% score)
• Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) updated annually
• Physical exam within 12 months (not required by facility but required by placement agency)
• Immunizations and health documentation:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – Mar 31)

Appearance & Uniform

• Scrubs: Navy and white combination
• Must comply with employee appearance policy

Additional Notes

• Return to Office (RTO) within 5 days or add time to end of contract
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• Neuro ICU experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
