ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Galion, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
- Registered Nurse needed for ICU with a minimum of 2 years ICU experience.
- Cardiac experience required, specifically with post-cath intervention, balloon pump, and Impella.
- Must be willing to float to all campuses.
- Call required.
- Prior travel nursing experience is required.
- No holiday requests or holiday week time off (RTO) will be approved.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- SPT certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with post-cath intervention, balloon pump, and Impella devices
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required.
- 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, counties lived/worked/schooled, national criminal search, sex offender registry, OFAC, and education verification. Must be updated annually.
- OH BCI and FBI fingerprint attestation required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Candidates may start with fingerprints pending if a clear background check is on file.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal.
- NURSYS verification required for RN license within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually and after any break in service of 2+ months.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TDAP within 10 years or signed declination.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: titer or 2 adult MMR vaccines; negative/equivocal titers require booster vaccine (declination not accepted).
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination.
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/T-Spot) within 12 months, updated annually. Positive TB requires chest x-ray and annual questionnaire.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (9/29–3/31) with no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions allowed with masking requirements.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online Healthstream modules required by 4 PM EST on due date, with onsite completion during first week.
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually (minimum 80% score).
- Review and sign unit-specific new employee packet and job description prior to start.
- Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background, .jpeg format).
- Completion of new hire orientation and sign-off forms prior to documentation due date.
- Fit mask testing required prior to start; must be fitted to approved mask types.
- Skills check-offs (e.g., Stat Strip Nova Glucometer, Aseptic Compounding IV Medications) completed onsite during first week.
Additional Notes
- No holiday or holiday week time off requests will be approved; this does not guarantee working every holiday but no guaranteed days off during holiday weeks.
- Candidates must provide proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- If traveler has worked with the agency for over 1 year, a performance evaluation is required; over 2 years, an internal evaluation is required.
- Radiation badges will be issued to applicable candidates by the client.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with cardiac skills and prior travel nursing experience who are flexible with floating and call responsibilities and can commit to a 13-week night shift contract without holiday time off.
